Rules

One printed code, the right page for every visitor. Rules send a Hit to a different Destination by country, device, operating system, language or time of day.

On Pro and Business.

How Rules work

A Link has a default Destination and an ordered list of Rules. Each Hit is checked against the Rules from the top; the first one that matches decides where it goes. When none match, the visitor goes to the default Destination.

Analytics show which Rule sent each Hit where, so you can see how your routing performs.

Example: vctr.io/APP

  1. OS is iOS → apps.apple.com/…
  2. OS is Android → play.google.com/…
  3. Language is German → example.com/de

Otherwise → example.com

What people use them for

One code for both app stores

Send iOS visitors to the App Store and Android visitors to Google Play from the same printed code.

The right country and language

Packaging sold in several countries opens the local shop, in the visitor's language.

Time windows

The lunch menu until three, the dinner menu after. Or a campaign page only while the campaign runs.

Splits for A/B tests

A Rule can send its Hits to a Split instead of one Destination: weighted Destinations that divide traffic, such as 50/50 between two landing pages. Compare them in analytics, then keep the winner.

Passwords and expiry

Protect a Link with a password, or let it expire on a date: visitors then see a plain page instead of your Destination. The Code stays yours, so you can move the date or remove it later.

If you leave a paid plan

Your Rules, passwords and expiry dates keep working exactly as they did, read-only; you can still remove them. Printed codes never break because a plan changed. The keep-working promise.
